Welcome to my post about my DIY Jewel Collar Barn Jacket! I love the combination of the classic barn jacket style with some funky jewels. I think we will be seeing barn jackets everywhere for Fall 2025 fashion trends. Why not step it up a notch with something shiny?
Let’s start with the inspiration for this DIY Jewel Collar Barn Jacket idea! I fell in love with a similar designer jacket from Veronica Beard called the “Arlen Dickey Coat” in Yellow. The Veronica Beard jacket, from Spring 2025, is so beautiful but the price tag was just under $1k. Fast forward to now, and I came across a classic barn jacket from Target, with a price tag of $13 in the clearance.I knew I should take a chance and DIY it! So that is what I did!
This is the final product!
Also, I have a blog post with more pictures of my Jewel Collar Barn Jacket you can check out here!!

Now, let’s take a side by side look at the original jacket (the Veronica Beard Jacket) and the one I found in the Target clearance.

The left photo is the Veronica Beard Arlen Dickey Coat in yellow and the photo on the right is the one I purchased from Target from the “Future Collective” line called the Chore Coat. Note: I found a few of these Target Chore Coats on Poshmark if you are looking for my exact jacket.
Here are the progress pictures of the bedazzling process!

The exact glue I used is linked here! The exact jewels I used are linked here from Hobby Lobby.
What you Need:
- Bedazzling Glue
- Gems
- Barn Jacket
How To:
Lay out your gems to get an idea of the layout you like. I knew I wanted to match the Veronica Beard Arlen Dickey Coat collar, so I played around with the gems to get the pattern I liked. Also, take note of where you place the gems because you don’t want a gem glued to the part of the collar that is folded since it could fall off. Next, place the gems on the flat parts of the collar by adding glue to the back of the big gems then lightly press them on the fabric. For the little gems, I put glue directly on the jacket collar because honestly, there are a lot of gems to glue and that was faster. Let it dry and voila! You’re done! Now you have your own DIY Jewel Collar Barn Jacket!
Tips:
I recommend a barn jacket that has an oversized lapel to get a similar look. My barn jacket has a slight texture to it, but that is something to consider when you are bedazzling. I think a good place to find a barn jacket would be to thrift one! I linked a bunch of barn jackets if you are looking for some barn jackets in general!
I would love to know if you try this!
Xoxo,
Kemily
